As a follow-up to the Metagenomic Workshop held in Rotterdam in June 2016, Sébastien Matamoros is leading an effort for a metagenomic ring trial.
Based on the Metagenomic Workshop held in Rotterdam in June 2016, Sébastien Matamoros is looking to take the next step and develop a ring trial.
The participants of the workshop touched on some ideas, but much remains to do. In order to clarify the project, Sébastien would first like to know who is interested in participating. More specifically, who is interested to be a contributor (provide materials and interpret results) or participant, and at which level (wet lab, in silico, both).
The big outline is to make a standardized microbiota sample, composed of an artificial mix of several relevant bacteria and potentially viruses, in order to make a complex mock sample. The sample will then be split between all the participants for DNA extraction, sequencing and analysis. We will also make an in-silico mock sample dataset for those interested. This could also be part of the pipeline testing that we discussed. All these points are of course open for discussion.
For those that are interested to join in, either as a contributor or participant, please let Sébastien know (s.p.matamoros@amc.uva.nl). He will then organize a discussion (via the metagenomic chatroom on the COMPARE Share Site and eventually Skype) to define the details of the project.
