The Global Microbial Identifier (GMI) Proficiency Test 2016 has been launched, and you can sign-up from now until 12 August.

What is the GMI Proficiency Test (PT)?

This inter-laboratory performance test is provided to facilitate harmonization and standardization in whole genome sequencing and data analysis, with the aim to produce comparable data. The proficiency test (PT) represents an important tool for the evaluation and production of reliable laboratory results of consistently good quality within the area of DNA preparation, sequencing, and analysis (e.g. clustering).

The GMI PT 2016 is supported by COMPARE, which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 643476. In addition, the GMI PT 2016 is supported by FDA GenomeTrakr and Microbiologics®.

To accomplish this task efficiently, the GMI network is now opening the GMI PT 2016 which covers next-generation sequencing with a focus on the analysis of Campylobacter coli and C. jejuni, Listeria monocytogenes and Klebsiella pneumoniae.

Sign-up for the GMI PT 2016 is now open. Please follow the link to the GMI PT 2016 page (http://www.globalmicrobialidentifier.org/Workgroups/About-the-GMI-Proficiency-Test-2016) to find more information about the PT and to sign-up to participate (sign-up deadline 12th August 2016).

If you have any questions about the GMI PT 2016, you are welcome to address them to Susanne Karlsmose Pedersen (suska@food.dtu.dk).
