The course “Antimicrobial resistance-theory and methods” prepared by The Technical University of Denmark, National Food Institute (DTU-FOOD) is now available as a massive open online course (MOOC) with on-demand features for anyone that wishes to know more about the basics of antimicrobial resistance.
The course covers topics such as basic definitions and overview of antimicrobials and antimicrobial effects, antimicrobial resistance mechanisms, selection and dissemination of antimicrobial resistance as well as a module on antimicrobial susceptibility testing methods and two lectures on the use of genomic tools for analysis of WGS data for detection of resistance genes (and other genes of interest).
The course is divided into 16 short video-lectures, and the participants will have their knowledge tested by in-video quizzes and module quizzes. Because the course will be available long-term and is available on-demand, the start and end dates are totally flexible as well as the time used in the course. By creating a login to the site, the participants can browse all course materials, and they have the opportunity to receive a certificate if they pay a relatively small fee.
